Gretna, Va. – Blair Construction received a $7 million contract to construct a multi-tenant building for Amelon Commerce Center in Amherst County, Virginia.
“Blair Construction is excited to be working with the Amherst Economic Development Authority on the new Amelon Commerce Center,” said Timothy Clark, president of Blair Construction. “Furthering local economic development is one of our foremost goals in the projects we take on, and we look forward to seeing what this new building will do for our community.”
This project is funded locally and federally through the Economic Development Administration. Amherst will show the building as a nearly finished “shell” to prospective businesses who are considering bringing their business to the county.
“The 45,000-square-foot multi-tenant Amelon Commerce Center will be a tremendous asset to Amherst County and the region as a whole,” said Joyce French, owner of the consulting firm The French Connection. “The Economic Development Authority of Amherst County was very fortunate to receive American Rescue Plan Act funding from the U.S. Department of Commerce and the Economic Development Administration to facilitate the implementation of this initiative. We are privileged to be working with Blair Construction, an outstanding company in the area, to make this aspiration a reality.”
Located in Amherst, less than two miles from the U.S. 29 bypass, the future commerce center will have several sites available for industrial use. Currently, the park is home to businesses in manufacturing, warehousing/distribution, and professional services.
Construction is expected to finish in about 14 months.
