After growing up in nearby Evington, Va., Ryan Maddox’s academic and professional career took him around the western portion of the Commonwealth, from Lynchburg to Farmville to Roanoke. Now the Hampden-Sydney College graduate is returning to the area where he grew up as an assistant project manager for Blair Construction.
In his new role, Maddox assists Blair’s project managers in numerous capacities, including estimating, coordinating, and managing ongoing projects; working frequently with customers, both new and existing; and ensuring quality standards for all projects from start to finish.
Maddox holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and business from Hampden-Sydney College. While in college, he worked for Avis Construction in Roanoke as a laborer, and he also holds his commercial driver’s license, spending the majority of his professional career as a tow truck driver with Maddox & Sons Auto Service.
“I came from a family business background, and I was looking for a place with the same type of environment,” Maddox said. “I found that at Blair Construction.”
Also a graduate of nearby Brookville High School, Maddox grew up just 30 miles from Blair Construction’s headquarters. He was a two-sport athlete in high school and went on to play football in college.
“The moment I walked through the door at Blair, I could tell it was a place that truly cared about their customer relationships and the quality of their work,” Maddox added. “I could also tell that the people at Blair, collectively, take pride in what they do by holding themselves to the highest standard of quality when performing any step during a project.”
Maddox is the latest addition to a Blair Construction team that prides itself on skilled craftsmanship, high quality standards, and long-standing client relationships built on trust and reputation. That approach has led to the completion of more than 500 projects since 2010, the majority of which have been based on existing client relationships.
“Ryan is an up-and-coming professional in our industry and one who has a lot of skills that will carry him a long way in a short time,” said Blair Construction President Tim Clark. “He is hardworking, eager to learn, and has both an eye for and dedication to quality. These are all common values of our people, which makes him a great fit for our team.”
